Project Acacia moves tokenised finance closer to the real world
Project Acacia is entering its next stage and the focus is shifting from experimentation to infrastructure.
On 27 August, the RBA’s Payments System Board endorsed a proposed consultation on how the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) could support tokenised wholesale asset markets and tokenised money.
This follows Project Acacia’s testing of 20 tokenised-market use cases, including settlement through traditional exchange settlement account balances, a pilot wholesale CBDC, tokenised bank deposits and stablecoins.
The testing showed potential for faster settlement, reduced counterparty risk, improved capital efficiency and more automated asset servicing.
The next question is how these models connect with Australia’s financial infrastructure safely and at scale. That brings governance, interoperability, regulatory readiness and operational resilience firmly into the discussion.
HASH ELEVENS helps businesses and founders assess digital assets and token-based business models, including stablecoins, CBDCs and digital payments. We also provide practical guidance on regulatory readiness, custody and platform risk, and the governance needed to move from an idea to responsible implementation.
